About Karaikal Port

Located along the East Coast of India and with rich access to major industrial markets, Karaikal Port was built aligning with India’s developmental projects in the maritime sector. The commitment is to make Karaikal an industrial smart city with port-led development.

Karaikal Port Private Limited (KPPL) is a Special Purpose Vehicle exclusively setup in the year 2006 to develop, operate and maintain Karaikal Port in line with Concession Agreement signed with Government of Puducherry on Public Private Partnership (PPP) basis. Spreading across more than 600 acres of area, the Port has excellent evacuation facilities with 3 railway sidings and National Highways within a Kilometer from Port premise.

The Port has envisaged its development in 3 phases with ultimate cargo handling capacity of 100 MMTPA and currently has state of the art infrastructure facilities such as mechanized cargo handling facility, covered warehousing, open storage plot, Mobile Harbour Cranes, etc. It serves as a congestion-free port through advanced cargo handling equipment, sufficient and damage free warehousing facilities, faster turnaround of vessels and smooth evacuation of cargo with competitive in-house logistics support. The port is striving to achieve e-port model which will encourage paper-free transactions through single window.

The vision of Karaikal Port is to be India’s most Preferred and Responsible Gateway and in the process serve the customers, benefit the stakeholders, empower the communities in the hinterland and participate in nation building.
