Berthing Facilities

Karaikal Port is envisaged to have a total of 9 berths capable of handling 47 MMTPA by 2018. The port will be capable of handling all types of cargo such as dry bulk, break bulk, liquid bulk and containerized cargo in different independent zones

The port will be developed in 3 phases, which are detailed in the table below:

Currently Karaikal port has five berths, three for general cargo and two for coal. Present handling capacity of the port is 28.0 MMTPA.
