A first generation entrepreneur, GRK Reddy is the Chairman & Managing Director of MARG Ltd., a leading infrastructure development company in India.
Reddy completed his Advanced Executive Management Program from Kellogg Business School, USA. In the year 1985, he started his career as a Merchant Banker and joined CIFCO a premier merchant banking firm in the 1987 alongside JM Financials and DSP, who were the market leaders.
With astute business acumen learned from CIFCO he went on his own and founded MARG Constructions Ltd in 1994. He has been the Chairman of the Confederation of Indian Industries (CII) for its Chennai Zone. He is also a member of various councils like National Council on Infrastructure, National Council on Real Estate and Housing, CII Taskforce for building inclusive cities etc. wherein he has been giving valuable contributions.
Reddy is also nominated as a Chairman of Infra-2007 wherein he spearheaded the new development agenda for Chennai. The forum came out with a development plan famously called MAP, to transform Chennai into a world class city, which was readily appreciated by TN Government. Reddy is also the charter member of TIE (The Indus Entrepreneurs), and global network for fostering entrepreneurship.
V. P. Rajini Reddy brings with her, a vast experience of 12 years in high-calibre management. She holds an Engineering degree from Sri Venkateswara University. In the year 1996, along with two Business partners, she set up a training center to cater the training needs of all the IT and ITES sectors like – Medical Transcription, Medical Billing, and Call Center etc. In 1999, she started Exemplarr (Previously known as RR Infotech), a BPO with her husband, GRK Reddy to offer services in the HealthCare sector and later diversified into various domains like document management services, Legal services and E-Publishing.
Sreedhar Challa is a financial professional with experience in Non-Banking Financial services, Stock broking, Investment banking, Asset management, Corporate Advisory and Wealth Management/Private Banking Services.
He has expertise in various areas of financial services, legal & company affairs spread over more than 19 years of diversified corporate experience. Among his academic accomplishments include an MBA, MFT, LLB, Pre qualification as Company Secretary and PGPMAX from ISB and business programs from related certifications.
M. L. N. Acharyulu has more than three decades of rich and varied professional experience in multi-disciplinary areas in different organisations at various levels, in the fields of Design Engineering, Project Appraisal, Project Management, Corporate Finance, Marketing, Corporate Planning & Strategies, HR, IT and Board Level Corporate Management.
Acharyulu worked as ED & CEO with Karaikal Port. His earlier assignments were with Crompton Greaves Ltd., Mumbai, SICOM Ltd., Mumbai and Godavari Fertilisers and Chemicals Ltd., Hyderabad (now Coromandel Fertilizers), Managing Director at QualCore Logic Pvt. Ltd., Hyderabad, a subsidiary of QualCore Group Inc. U.S & Executive Director with Conexant Systems Pvt. Ltd., Hyderabad, a subsidiary of Conexant Inc. U.S.
Acharyulu did M.Tech in Electrical Engineering from JNTU Kakinada, Masters in Financial Management from Jamanalal Bajaj Institute of Management Studies, Mumbai and also AICWA.
Sachin Johri is currently the Managing Director – Investments of IDFC Project Equity. He has over 16 years of international experience with leading global financial institutions. He joined IDFC in May 2006 as the first member of the Indian Infrastructure Fund (IIF) team. He led the acquisition of the first three seed assets identified for IIF and also assisted in the structuring of IIF for the Indian market.
Prior to joining IDFC, He served as a Senior Vice President at Macquarie’s Singapore Office where he was responsible for regional corporate finance and infrastructure business. He directed Macquarie’s initiatives in the infrastructure sector in India for origination and execution of transactions.
Prior to Macquarie, he worked for Dresdner Kleinwort Wasserstein where he headed the project finance advisory and arranging business division. He worked with large number of multinational clients, helping them raise finance for large projects and also provided strategic and bid advice to both government and private investors. In 2000, he moved to the firm’s Singapore office where he was responsible for regional project finance and financial restructuring business. Sachin commenced his career in 1992 with ICICI Ltd., Mumbai where he worked on first set of project financings in India. He was also an advisor to State Governments in their program to select bidders to develop large Independent Power Plants.
Sachin holds a Masters in Business Administration from the Indian Institute of Management, Ahmedabad and a B.Tech in Electrical Engineering from the Indian Institute of Technology, Kanpur.
Ajay is a founding member of Ascent. He was part of the initial team that set up UTI Group’s venture business in mid 2000 through UTI Ventures. Ajay brings deep experience and understanding of Indian entrepreneurs, capital markets, financial structuring, and matters relating to taxation and regulations.
He was previously with UTI Mutual Fund where he managed India Access Fund, the first India dedicated offshore index fund. He played a key role in UTI’s investment monitoring team and was involved in the restructuring of several portfolio companies across diverse sectors.
Ajay graduated from Shri Ram College of Commerce, and then qualified as a Chartered Accountant and was amongst All India toppers. He is also a qualified Cost Accountant.
Ajay is actively involved in furthering education in weaker society through his school’s Alumni Association
Sunil Chawla is a Partner at Jacob Ballas Capital India Private Limited, a premier private equity firm that advises three India Funds with total assets under management of more than USD 600 million, and New York Life Insurance Company as the anchor investor. He is a Chartered Accountant with more than 25 years of functional experience in Private Equity, Corporate Finance, Investment Banking, M&A and Corporate Advisory, Investment Advisory and Management, Assurance, Taxation, Accounting and Project Finance and monitoring.
Sunil’s previous assignment was with Tata Finance Limited – at that time India’s largest non-banking finance company – as Head of Corporate Finance for North India. Before that he spent two years with International Development Research Centre (IDRC), Canada as the Finance Head of its South Asia Regional Office.
Sunil currently serves on the boards of Bhilwara Energy Limited (a leading Indian hydro power generation company), SEW Infrastructure Limited (a leading construction EPC company and infrastructure developer), PNC Infratech Limited (a leading road construction company and infrastructure developer), DBM Geotechnics and Constructions Private Limited (a leading geotechnical services and marine infrastructure construction company) and Karaikal Port Private Limited (a premier port operating company).
Mr. Arora is a Director at Standard Chartered Private Equity (“SCPE”) since early 2008. He has over 18 years of experience in financial services including 14 years of experience in Private Equity and Investment Management.
Mr. Arora is focused on Private Equity, Growth Capital and Private Investments in Public Equity (PIPE) investments since early 2000, including Principal Investing / Private Equity at Bank of America (2000-2006) and Morgan Stanley (2007-08). Previously he focused on Public Market Investments research and institutional investment advisory business at J.P. Morgan, India (ICICI Securities) during 1995-1998 and investment banking at Dresdner Kleinwort Wasserstein (1998-2000). He currently represents SCPE as Board Director on the Boards of various investee companies including Ocean Sparkle, Craftsman Automation, Karaikal Port and Privi Organics. Prior to the successful exit of SCPE’s investment in PI Industries, he represented SCPE as Board Observer on the Board of PI.
In his personal capacity, Mr. Arora is a Director on the Board of the Indian Association of Investment Professionals (“IAIP”), the India Society of CFA Institute, USA. He currently also serves as the Vice President of IAIP and as a member of the global Capital Markets Policy Council (CMPC) of CFA Institute.
Mr Arora has been an active member of the corporate, financial services and investments community in Mumbai since 1995, after completing his B. Tech (IIT, 1989-93) and MBA (IIM, 1993-95). He is a Chartered Financial Analyst (CFA) Charter Holder and a founding member of the Indian Association of Investment Professionals (IAIP, the India Society of CFA Institute, USA)
M.V. SUBARAMAN was heading the Kolkata Branch of IDBI from 1999 to 2001 [till the date of retirement]. He worked as General Manager at IDBI Head Office handling Corporate Finance Department heading two groups, Petrochemical and basic chemical industries.
M.V. SUBARAMAN has rich experience in Project Appraisal [Risk Assessment of the Project], Project Follow-up and working capital finance. He has handled several projects in IDBI, spanning over two and half decades. He was also associated with the International Management Consultant viz. Booz, Allen and Hamilton, for carrying out redesign of the organizational structure and credit delivery mechanism.
During his service, he had functioned as Director, nominated by IDBI, on the boards of several companies, including West Bengal Finance Corporation. Presently, engaged with a Kolkata based Group having turnover of over Rs. 4000 crore PA.
Mr. T Sankaralingam was Chairman & Managing Director of NTPC, the largest and most efficient power utility in India and superannuated on 30th April, 2008.
Mr T. Sankaralingam has an illustrious career spanning nearly 49 years with several outstanding contributions. He became a Director of Projects at NTPC in August 2001 and became its Chairman and Managing Director in April 2006. He is continuing as a practicing Project Director/consultant and is an Independent Director in POWER MECH Projects Ltd, DB Power Ltd, DB Power (Madhya Pradesh) Ltd, Diligent Power Pvt Ltd and Nominee Director on behalf of Edelweiss in Adhunik Power and Natural Resources Ltd.
A graduate in Electrical Engineering, he started his career as a Lecturer in Directorate of Technical Education, Tamil Nadu. His sound knowledge of engineering began to get its practical expression during his employment in Tamil Nadu Electricity Board and BHEL before joining NTPC in 1977. He was the architect and Project Director of NTPC-Simhadri Project which is now widely acknowledged as a model power project in India. This Project became the first Asian project to win the very prestigious International Project Management Association (IPMA) Award-2005 against stiff and high quality competition across the globe.
During his tenure in NTPC from 1977 to 2008, Mr. Sankaralingam was Non- Executive Chairman of many joint ventures and subsidiaries of NTPC. He has been instrumental in getting many awards in NTPC during his directorship such as Platt’s Top 250 Global Energy Companies Award for 2007, Inter National Project Management Award, Golden Peacock Award for Corporate Governance, Mother Theresa Award for Corporate Social Responsibility, Wartsila-Mantosh Sondhi Award for the year 2006 for Outstanding Achievements and contribution to the Power Sector apart from Meritorious Productivity Awards from Scope and GoI.
Post retirement, he has held several key positions including; Managing Director in BGR Energy Systems Limited; Managing Director in Cuddalore Power Gen Corporation Limited; Non-executive Chairman in East Coast Energy Pvt. Ltd., Non Executive Chairman in Bhuvaneshwar Power Private Limited and an Independent Director in Athena Chhattisgarh Power Private Limited; Non–Official Director of APGENCO and Non–Official Director in Torrent Power Pvt. Ltd. He has served as Vice Chairman of CIGRE India and Chairman of National Study Committee of CIGRE for Distributed Generation. He was Member Secretary, World Energy Council’s India Member Committee (WEC-IMC).
Mr Sankaralingam has won several accolades during his inspiring career. To name a few, he was conferred ‘Distinguished Fellowship’ Award by Institution of Directors (IOD), India; ‘Distinguished Alumni Award’ by NIT-Trichy; Recipient of Eminent Engineer Award-2005 from Institution of Engineers, Delhi.
Mr. Sabyasachi Hajara is an Indian business executive with decades of experience in the Shipping, Transportation and Trade industry. He has held several coveted positions in India’s major corporations and has led numerous associations and committees in his rich professional career.
He is currently an Independent Director of Adani Petronet Port Projects Ltd, TRF (Tata Steel Subsidiary) and Dolphin Offshore & Dolphin Shipping. He is part of board of DLT, Colombo (a subsidiary of TRF), Tata International DLT (A joint venture between Tata International and DLT). He is also an advisor to APJ Shipping and Moloobhoy & Co.
He was the Chairman and Managing Director of Shipping Corporation of India (SCI), the largest Indian shipping company. Immediately on passing out from IIM Calcutta, he joined SCI in 1973 and held various positions in the company for four decades and reached the position of Chairman and Managing Director before he superannuated. His contribution to the company has been recognized abundantly and SCI has awarded the ‘Navratna’ status during his tenure.
He also served as Director & Chairman of Irano Hind Shipping Co. Ltd., Director of Indian Register of Shipping, Baltic International Maritime Council (BIMCO), Sethusamudram Corporation Limited, SCI Forbes Ltd., LNG Transportation Co. Numerous awards have been conferred on Mr. Sabyasachi Hajara recognizing his unprecedented contribution to the industry. “Innovator Of The Year” from India Shipping Summit, 2007 , “Business Leader of the Year Award – for Shipping” from Shipping and Marine 2008, “Distinguished Alumnus Award” from IIM Calcutta, “Life-Time Achievement award” from Sailors Today Award, “Global Indian & Maritime Personality” of the Year from All India Maritime and Logistics Awards (MALA) – 2012, “Life time Achievement Award” from Lloyd’s list, “Honorary fellowship/ honorary membership” from Institute of Marine Engineers and the Company of Master Mariners’ respectively.
He was awarded the prestigious and most coveted award in the Indian maritime Sector, the “Varuna Award” by the National Maritime Day Celebration Committee on the National Maritime Day, 5th April, 2016. He is only one out of two individuals in Asia, on whom, Institute of Chartered Shipbrokers, London, have awarded Honorary Emeritus Membership.
