Karaikal Port’s strategic location close to the economically vibrant Central Tamil Nadu region and the ready availability of vital resources such as ample land and manpower provide a compelling combination for the development of an industrial hub and keeping this in mind, Karaikal Port has taken on an active role in promoting and facilitating investments by Port Based Industries in and around Karaikal.

As part of these efforts, Karaikal Port assists potential investors in selection of plant location, development of support facilities and transport links to the port and also offers logistics planning and support including customized end-to-end logistics solutions.

Karaikal Port has already collaborated with Chennai Petroleum Corporation Limited (CPCL) to develop shared infrastructure to supply crude oil to the CPCL refinery located nearby. Karaikal Port is also coordinating efforts with many power project developers who are developing over 15,000 MW of thermal power generation capacity within 100km radius from the port. Being a multi-commodity port, Karaikal Port is also looking to collaborate with key players from sectors such as agro, fertilizers and clean fuel (LPG/LNG) to set up manufacturing and processing units that can derive major benefits from the close proximity to the port.

A multi-commodity Logistics Park is also being planned at Karaikal to provide further benefits to industrial units and other port users. The Logistics Park would be located close to the Karaikal Port premises and offer state of the art equipment, facilities and services to its customers.
