~This is the first time that a career guidance program of this scale has been organized in Nagappatinam~

Nagapattinam, May 15, 2011: MARG Karaikal Port Pvt. Ltd. in association with M.S.Swaminathan Research Foundation today organised a Career Guidance Programme at Nagapattinam for the student community in the district. Present the occasion was Captain Prasad Rebala, Sr. Vice President, Port Operations, MARG Karaikal Port and senior functionaries from MSSRF.

The fair commenced with release of "Career Guidance Booklet" – an exhaustive booklet on career options. The booklet [provided a detailed insight into various career streams that youngsters from Nagapattinam can pursue. The objective of this booklet was to guide and channelize the resources available with these youngsters in the most optimal manner and in tune with their skill sets.

As a part of MARG Karaikal Port's CSR initiatives, this program has been designed to benefit the students and provide them with valuable and constructive information on higher education, degree and the diploma courses.

Commenting on this noble initiative, Captain Prasad Rebala, Sr. Vice President, Port Operations, MARG Karaikal Port said, "It gives me immense pleasure to be a part of this educational programme. At MARG Karaikal Port, our CSR efforts are always community driven and we follow the model of inclusive growth and wholesome development."

He further added, "The rural students do not have many opportunities for exposure to the spectrum of educational choices available. A lot of our bright students hence, miss out on lucrative careers on account of this. We are glad to collaborate with MSSRF for this program and I am happy that we have been able to contribute fruitfully to the student's community of this region."

The guidance fair witnessed over 350 enthused students from Nagapattinam and the neighboring districts. Rajkumar, VRC Coordinator, MSSRF, Pudukottai (Video Conferencing), Thiru. D.S. Francis – The commanding officer, Indian Coast Guard Station, Mandapam (Audio Conferencing).

The career guidance were given to the students in the spheres of Industrial Training Institutes (ITI), Arts & Science courses, Polytechnic & Technical Education, Catering courses, Marine Biology, Oceanography, Coastal Aqua Culture, Agricultural courses, Veterinary and animal sciences, Engineering courses and Law education.

Apart from education, MARG Parivarthan also supports the cause of health, vocational training, community infrastructure, environment, relief and rehabilitation welfare programmes and women empowerment.
